Job Description

The AAA User team at Datadog is central to our commitment to deliver a secure, reliable, and frictionless service experience for all our users. We are responsible for the critical infrastructure that manages user authentication, including login systems, identity provider integrations, identity federation, account safety features, and session management. Our efforts are fundamental in upholding the trust that users place in Datadog, ensuring the integrity and accessibility of their data and services.

As the Engineering Manager for the AAA User team you will lead a high-performing team of software engineers, guiding them in building and maintaining these mission-critical systems. Collaboration is key in this role with other platform, security, and product teams across Datadog to enhance the resilience, scalability, and security of our systems. Your strategic vision will not only guide your team's day-to-day operations but also influence the long-term roadmap of identity and user management at Datadog.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships that it builds, the creativity it brings to the table, and the collaboration of being together. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our employees can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You'll Do:

  • Guide and mentor a team of 6-8 software engineers, emphasizing career development, inclusivity, and high performance.
  • Drive the technical roadmap in collaboration with your team, product management, and security teams to align our work with company-wide security objectives.
  • Engage strategically with complex technical problems and work with your team to produce well-defined and actionable plans.
  • Stay in touch with your team's systems, and roll up your sleeves when needed to unblock your team by writing code or troubleshooting issues.
  • Foster an engineering culture that prioritizes operational excellence, ensuring that the team's deliverables are well-engineered and set new standards for quality and reliability.
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Datadog's engineering management team.

Who You Are:

  • You have proven experience managing teams that shipped and operated business-critical systems.
  • You have demonstrated ability in designing, building, and operating distributed systems to solve problems at scale.
  • You have hands-on expertise in one or more of these areas: web application security, customer identity and access management (IAM), authentication protocols such as OAuth/OIDC.
  • You are an excellent communicator and collaborator, able to work effectively through complex technical problems with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • You are comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, able to adapt strategies and solutions in response to emerging challenges and opportunities.

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We know not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you're passionate about technology and want to grow your experience, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits and Growth:

  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
  • Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)
  • Access to Inclusion Talks, our Internal panel discussions
