Job Description

Scheduled Hours:Full Time; PM Shift: 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm,Monday through Friday

Position Requirements:
High school graduate with diploma or GED

CPR certified
2~3 years hospital experience/training
Good Communication skills, professional and interpersonal skills.

Basic computer skills

Ability to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e., understand child development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging prior experience with various age groups is preferred.

Ability to work in a fast~paced environment with established time constraints.

Ability to work in demanding situations.

Ability to lift/move and transfer patients.

Ability to perform heavy to very heavy lifting: Lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly.

May be exposed to hazardous materials and life threatening diseases. Performs tasks which involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue.

Ability to transport heavy objects from one location to another.

On call as needed.


If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

Purpose:
To assist in providing quality patient care in a manner which is focused on the surgical patient, technically appropriate and cost effective. The Anesthesia Technician works under the direct supervision of the Anesthesiologist as well as the mission and philosophy of Advocate Condell Medical Center. The Anesthesia Technician performs a variety of clinical functions which support the Anesthesiologists and nursing staff with Surgical, Endoscopy, Cardiology, Interventional Radiology and Obstetrical procedures.

Accountabilities:
Participates in the preparation of the OR suite for admission of patients under the supervision of the Anesthesiologist/RN.
Maintains supplies and equipment for the care of the anesthesia patient.
Environmental Care Procedures
Works in collaboration with other health team members to provide quality care.
