Vice President, Compensation

The Vice President, Compensation will lead a team of compensation managers, regional leads, and analysts across the globe. Partners with business leaders and HR colleagues to provide strategic and tactical guidance in all aspects of broad-based reward and compensation programs, plans and policies. Closely partners across the compensation and reward team colleagues and works with HR and business leaders to ensure that compensation aligns with and supports Thomson Reuters enterprise objectives. Designs and drives compensation strategy and provides comprehensive and value-added consulting support and thought leadership in all areas of reward and recognition below the executive level within the context of Thomson Reuters reward strategy. Leads optimization of enterprise-wide Thomson Reuters incentive programs.

About the Role

In this opportunity as Vice President, Compensation, you will:

  • Ensure effective planning and delivery of all compensation programs and processes including the company-wide annual compensation planning process
  • Partners closely with various business leaders and HR partners and managers to understand business requirements and to effectively align reward decisions and strategies
  • Leveraging the use of new products and technology, leads global broad-based compensation benchmarking and analysis processes; ensuring regular benchmarking studies to evaluate the competitiveness of our compensation programs and make recommendations for adjustments as necessary. Analyze market trends and best practices to ensure that our compensation programs remain current and effective
  • Ensures effective performance management integration. Collaborates with the COE and HR partners to integrate compensation with our performance management process, ensuring that compensation decisions are tied to individual and organizational performance
  • Develop and implement and support the creation of new local incentive and allowance programs as required
  • Partner with HR colleagues to maintain and update job architecture to align with company talent strategy
  • Develops and implements communication strategies for the effective communication of compensation programs to employees
  • Provide general reward consulting, education, and advice; secure and maintain relationships as necessary where outside expertise is required
  • Monitor, identify, and interpret new regulations, statutes, and legislative developments which affect compensation plans. Monitor and evaluate current reward programs to ensure legal and regulatory compliance recommend improvements as needed
  • Remain up to date with reward/compensation developments, building external networks and knowledge to ensure that the business is constantly aware of market trends and best practice locally

About You

You're a fit for the role of VP, Compensation, if your background includes:

  • University degree. Master's degree in appropriate discipline preferred
  • Strong total reward and compensation expertise with 10+ years of experience
  • Ability to establish credibility and build relationships with business leaders, senior executives
  • Expertise in adapting and leveraging emerging technologies
  • Ability to focus on critical objectives that add the most value and deliver results within a matrixed global organization and to drive tasks through to completion
  • Ability to develop new insights into solutions that result in and promote organizational improvements
  • Strong communication skills and business acumen to be an engaged and active consultant with HR and the business
  • Must be highly collaborative, with ability to work in partnership with broader TR Reward/Compensation community as well as HR.
  • Must be able to work and partner exceptionally well from a virtual perspective
  • Must be highly responsive and have a sense of urgency
  • Very high degree of personal integrity and honesty, with an absolute commitment to confidentiality

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The location(s) for this role include one or more of the following metro locations: Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $192,500 - $357,500. The base compensation range in other locations may vary. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
