Job Summary
Represent the university at recruitment events hosed by high schools, community colleges, community and social service agencies, local and regional businesses, faith-based organizations, and etc.
* In consultation with the associate director, use historical enrollment data to make decisions regarding travel to target markets to represent the university at recruitment events.
* Regularly counsels and advises prospective students, families and the general public regarding university policies, procedures, the admissions process, pre-college planning and general information such as financial aid, housing, registration and other student services.
* Independently conduct a comprehensive admission file review process and use additional holistic information to make judgement calls to determine admissions decisions for new students based on a set criteria established by the university. This holistic approach includes review of official high school and/or college transcripts, application, and standardized test scores for individual students going through the review process and review prospective students' application files on a daily basis.
* Foster public and personal relationships between prospective students and families and the university.
* In consultation with the associate director plan on-off campus recruiting events, including open houses, information sessions, arrangement of group and individual tours, workshops and other activities/events
* Counsels and advises prospective and admitted students on matters involving career opportunities, academic majors and courses.
* Assist in the production and distribution of recruitment materials including but not limited to brochures, pamphlets, newsletters, etc. to represent the office of admissions and the university
* Generates personal inquiries through network and professional relationships
* Evaluate and advise prospective students using a consultative process to best determine educational needs and position CSU as the school of choice
* Maintain a minimum standard of outbound and follow-up prospective students
* Achieve contact efficiency metrics and guide students through the online application process
* Support application/registration events as applicable
* Maintain accurate interactions with prospective students in CRM
* Coordinate tour requests and support admissions activities (open house, cougar start u, etc.)
* Participate on departmental and university committees
* Participate in professional development activities annually
* Complete other projects and duties as assigned
Job Description
This is a professional position responsible for increasing undergraduate enrollment through coordinated, planned and data driven recruitment practices. Responsible for representing Chicago State University at high school, community college, university programs and events across the Midwest Including travel within Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin: counseling families, prospective students and the general public on all aspects of the admissions process at Chicago State University; assisting with planning and implementation of university on-and-off campus programs; assisting with marketing and relationship-building activities through electronic correspondence and recruiting events; maintaining excellent public relations with prospective students and their families; making decisions regarding admission to the university; determining and implementing recruitment strategies in order to achieve enrollment goals; and assisting with other enrollment related services.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency in written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English (bilingual).

  • Knowledge in Microsoft Suite of products
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, evenings and weekends to accommodate students or departmental needs. This may include working more than 40 hours a week on occasion
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license
