Summary: Support bankers and clients as they navigate the SBA loan process from Loan Approval through Closing. The SBA Closer I is responsible for preparing SBA forms, submission to the SBA, and ensuring compliance and adherence to SBA SOP and Centier Bank policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. They use the Credit Quest scoring system in conjunction with Microsoft Excel and SBA's E-Tran system to complete their job. The SBA Closer I has an excellent understanding of SBA documentation requirements and the different programs offered by the Small Business Administration (SBA). The position will work closely with bankers and administrative assistants to provide a seamless loan closing experience for our clients.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide world-class customer service to internal and external clients of the department
  • Prepare and review SBA-specific documentation to ensure full compliance with both bank and SBA standards, demonstrating a strong attention to detail and understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Independently manage and track all steps from Loan Approval through Loan Closing for each client, making informed decisions to resolve any issues that arise.
  • Take charge of closing SBA 7a loans, guiding clients through the process, ensuring proper execution of loan documents, and providing detailed explanations of the same to clients.
  • Organize and maintain all required SBA documents prior to loan closing, ensuring complete and compliant loan packages.
  • Input and manage SBA documentation within the bank's file storage system, demonstrating proficiency in database management and information security.
  • Prepare and submit Non-Delegated 'GP' and Preferred Lending 'PLP' loan requests via ETran
  • Monitor and perform all loan disbursements in compliance with Centier and SBA guidelines, exercising sound judgment in the disbursement process
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management, adapting to new responsibilities with initiative and innovation.

Job Specifications / Skill Requirements:

  • Follow Centier Bank's Essentials of Excellence
  • Proven ability to work independently, make critical decisions, and manage multiple projects effectively
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required
  • Experience with CSI, Loan Scoring Systems (i.e. Credit Quest, etc.) and E-Tran is preferred
  • Some travel may be required as needed
  • 3+ years of experience in Small Business Administration industry with a focus on packaging and closing loans
  • Detailed knowledge of the SBA SOP is required
  • Fundamental knowledge of business financials statements and credit factors relating to commercial loans
  • Well organized, ability to multi-task and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor's degree in Management or related field with a working knowledge of business financial statements preferred
