OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANYFox TV Stations

FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.

JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX CHICAGO (WFLD 32 & WPWR 50) is seeking a visionary Vice President, News Director for a leadership opportunity in the dynamic Chicago TV market. The ideal candidate is innovative, competitive, and an excellent storyteller ready to reimagine our business and utilize social media and emerging platforms to enhance our brand.

Your focus will be on finding, nurturing and developing compelling stories that are enlightening and empowering, moving away from legacy formats and engaging viewers on a daily basis.

Key roles:

  • Oversee the station's news, working in unison with the SVP/General Manager
  • Collaborate with VP/Programming & Development to produce consumer-focused content across multiple platforms.
  • Manage the news department including budgets, expenses, strategic planning, technology, etc.
  • Maintain standards for journalistic integrity.
  • Develop excellent working relationship with department heads, staff & executives as well as with key Chicago leaders.

Requirements: At least 5 years' experience managing a news team, experience in launching new programs, good interpersonal skills, budget management, foresight of the future of local news programming including CTV. Proven success transforming traditional news into a digital-focused operation. Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills. Having experience in top 30 market and a college degree will be an advantage. Ideal candidate: A hands-on leader with excellent judgment, planning, organization, team building, written/presentation skills and passion for good content. Keen knowledge of digital content and distribution. Knowledge of libel laws, journalist rights & responsibilities is essential.
