ELS is hiring for the position of Sr Payroll Analyst in Chicago, Illinois.

Job responsibilities:

  • Ability to lead payroll on Workday product in partnership with our third-party payroll processor; ensure on-time payment to employees and statutory agencies
  • Contribute significantly on payroll projects as needed, applying payroll experience, and Workday system knowledge to achieve desired results
  • Monitor and implement statutory updates for regulations relating to time tracking, leave and absence, and payroll
  • Perform complex analysis of payroll issues that may impact a single employee or groups of employees to determine root cause and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Stay up to date on legislative changes and inform team of any actions that would need to be taken in ensuring compliance
  • Develop and maintain training documentation and recommend and implement process improvements
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with department contacts and key business partners
  • Increase effectiveness and efficiency through executed improvements
  • Develop tools and processes for the payroll department to maximize efficiency, reduce errors and processing time, and ensure compliance with all regulations
  • Manage equity payrolls and ensure estimated tax payments are remitted timely
  • Reconcile tax actuals v. remittance as necessary
  • Test new configuration and bug fixes in the Workday tenant for the US and Canada payroll
  • Partner with third party payroll processor on quarter end and year-end tax and accounting activities
  • Ensure system updates for open enrollment are updated timely in payroll
  • Mentor and train Payroll Specialist

Qualifications:

  • Expertise with Workday Payroll
  • BS degree in HR, Finance, Accounting; commensurate work experience in lieu of degree will be considered
  • Ability to understand system functionality and communicate requirements * Ability to work well within tight deadlines, can lead a process, and escalate issues early to prevent missed deadlines
  • Understanding of accounting principles necessary Additional skills needed * Ability to think on your feet and enjoy learning new things quickly
  • Strong organizational skills which include paying attention to all the details
  • Strong knowledge of payroll concepts, practices, controls, and procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with above average ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical personnel
