  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am -4:30pm
  • Required Travel: May cover at the 2 offsite FQHC's less than a 4 mile radius from the campus.

What you will need:

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program; Certified Medical Assistant required
  • Five years experience as a Medical Assistant in a multi-physician office preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent phone voice - proper grammar, diction
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology
  • Knowledge of clinical office or department general policies and practices
  • Keyboarding at 45wpm.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel), intranet/internet, and web-based portal functionality
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks, and to maintain flexibility in response to constantly changing demands; keen sense of environment needed
  • Ability to concentrate and remain composed in a busy, distracting office environment in high-pressure situations
  • Ability to interact positively and effectively with multiple departments
  • Ability to use good judgment and utilize independent decision-making skills to effectively problem solve and resolve issues

JOB SUMMARY

Lead the work of the Medical Assistants in Family Medicine and others in the clinical operation of a patient care setting. Perform duties to assist health care professionals in the examination and treatment of patients, such as preparation of the patient and environment, conducting basic laboratory tests, care of the patient prior to and post in office treatments, injections, and patient education. Under the Site Supervisor's direction, regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others. Assist in the hiring of Medical Assistants, provide feedback for performance evaluations, participate in the training and orientation of staff and identify and help resolve staffing and operational issues. Provide direction of patient flow, maintenance of staff schedule, providing flexibility when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Duties

Lead the work of the Medical Assistants. Provide back up support to ensure patient flow is efficient at all times.

Schedule and assign the Medical Assistants to ensure appropriate staffing in all areas at all times.

Train Medical Assistants. Serve as a resource to other staff; maintain training and orientation materials for Medical Assistants.

Participate in interviewing applicants and training/orienting new employees; provide information to Site Supervisor for hiring decisions and employee performance evaluations.

Monitor and evaluate policies and procedures to suggest any needed operational changes.

Monitor compliance of diagnostic test follow up. Monitor compliance of quality. Ensure proper maintenance is performed and all logs are maintained. Oversee stock, vaccines and supplies and ensure all PAR levels are maintained by Medical Assistants.

Help ensure billing encounter forms are completed by physicians on a daily basis.

Ensure the Procedure Room is scheduled and used appropriately for colposcopies, joint injections, wart removals, cyst removals, suture removals and endometrial biopsies. Fill in when needed with room preparation, patient preparation, assisting with provider during procedure and monitor patient's condition post procedure when needed.

Recognize emergent or urgent problems with patients and provide basic telephone triage on the floor.

Monitor and act on EMR messages in the work load; direct or respond to messages.

Participate in conferences and meetings as appropriate; represent the work unit on organizational initiatives.

Perform the work of a Medical Assistant.

Performs other duties as requested by the Site Supervisor.
