DATA ENGINEER AND SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR (HYBRID - ALL US OFFICES)

The Data Engineer and System Administrator will have primary responsibility for supporting, maintaining, administering, and upgrading the database appliances, analytical servers and storage, and analytical software Cornerstone Research uses for client work including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, AIX, Netezza, R, RStudio, SAS, Stata, MATLAB, IBM Spectrum Scale, and IBM Spectrum Protect. The Data Engineer and System Administrator will also be responsible for special projects and planning and developing documentation for the analytical platforms used at the Firm.

How You'll Help Our Team Succeed

  • Conduct database administration, backup, restore, archive, retrieve, user access, database creation, maintenance, and support.
  • Create, archive, retrieve, and support case data directory.
  • Perform Netezza and CP4D sustem upgrades, SAS hotfiexes and upgrades, as well as Linux and AIX software and firmware installations and upgrades.
  • Provide general software support for Analytical software, RStudio, Stata, MATLAB, R, Cogniview, and Sawtooth,
  • Assist with technical client data production.
  • Monitor systems to ensure adequte resources are available to users.
What You'll Need to Be Successful
  • 5+ years of Linux system administration and/or data engineering experience supporting analytical softtware and servers including R, SAS, etc;.
  • The desire to take initiative and actively contribute to the team and the firm.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to learn the firm's financial and operational functions.
  • The mindset to provide superior service.
  • Familiarity with general virtualization concepts such as though found in VMWare, IBM PowerVM, and Docker (Kubernetes, OpenShift) required.
  • Familiarity with Intel hardware and device management required.
  • Knowledge of at least one of: Unix other than AIX, AIX, or Linux any distro.
  • Knowledge of IBM Spetrum Scale, IBM Spectrum Protect, cloud computing infrastructure (AWS EC2/S3/EMR, Microsoft Azure) VMWare ESXi, MPP database systems (Netezza, Teradata, Greenplum, Vertica, Aster Data), ability to scrip in bash a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
