Job Description

The Role:

We're looking for a Sr. Director of Marketing Intelligence to build and lead the Analytics and Experimentation functions within the Morningstar Central Marketing Department. You will be the business leader that provides experimentation and analytics leadership and best practices, building a holistic reporting framework for all levels of the organization, use this to drive insights, and work cross-functionally to drive the data strategy. You will build out the experimentation function as a subject matter expert. You will have the technical chops to jump in and build out our experimentation practice and the desire to lead and build the team. You will employ a combination of people, process, and technology to build a culture of analytics within our marketing team. You will evangelize learnings by synthesizing findings and sharing insights that continue to drive iterative growth for Morningstar. You will inspire and lead a team of analysts to support marketing,data-driven opportunities, and a spirit of data-driven optimization through the execution of analytics and experimentation best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the analytics & experimentation strategy across Central Marketing

  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise in marketing analytics and KPI frameworks to measure success

  • Set into motion the analytics roadmap with focused pillars of attribution modeling, data strategy for lead generation, and analytics reporting pyramid

  • Develop analytics reporting suites to quantify performance and share results with stakeholders consistently across levels of the organization

  • Set testing strategy and approach leveraging conversion rate optimization best practices.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on design of experiments including test structure, sequencing, definition of primary and secondary success metrics, and experiment duration calculation.

  • Work with internal data engineering teams, and BI teams to set into motion the analytics roadmap for data strategy

  • Develop and iterate on attribution models to quantify drivers of conversion, including multi-touch attribution, lead scoring, propensity and churn models.

  • Understand customer and prospect funnels, customer behavior, funnel dynamics, and user trends to identify opportunities for experimentation to drive a step-change in conversion performance

  • Lead, grow, and inspire a team of Analysts and intelligence managers

  • Be an advocate and evangelist for best in class measurement and experimentation methodologies and opportunities across Marketing constituents

Requirements:

  • Master's degree is required, ideally in statistics, finance, mathematics, engineering, analytics, or in a quantitative discipline

  • 10+ years proven experience in digital marketing, analytics, and experimentation

  • Strong expertise in Digital & Marketing analytics and experience developing measurement strategies to evaluate performance

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering data-driven insights for stakeholder and marketing teams

  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills with advanced knowledge of statistics and quantitative models and with technical capabilities and experience designing and analyzing hypothesis-driven experiments and multivariate tests

  • A collaborative leader and problem solver who thrives in cross-functional environments, ability to lead and inspire teams

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner

  • Ambitious to thrive in a dynamic environment
