Description

The Magnet Program Manager reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

This position provides support to the Director of Professional Practice by leading all aspects of the ANCC Magnet designation and re-designation processes. This position coordinates the collection and distribution of key patient care services quality metrics including but not limited to RN satisfaction, patient satisfaction and nurse sensitive indicators to assure compliance with Magnet requirements. This position maintains expert knowledge of current Magnet requirements and ensures organization awareness of changes/updates.

The Magnet Program Manager functions as primary liaison with Magnet Office. The incumbent must use independent judgment and authority to execute projects and maintain workflow. This role also must demonstrate superior organization skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Will work as part of the team and must be flexible and adaptable.
  • Will interact with internal customers calling for assistance.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to be creative, organized, and self-directed.
  • Develops and coordinates activities required to maintain and sustain ANCC Magnet Recognition Status, including but not limited to providing continuous education to leaders, nurses and ancillary staff on Magnet Recognition Program standards and expectations
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with administration, nursing leadership and all staff to ensure achievement of goals related to Magnet readiness.
  • Coordinates and facilitates assigned Shared Decision Making (SDM) Councils, acting as a resource and advisor for SDM to promote alignment with Nursing Strategic Roadmap and Professional Practice Model.
  • Coordinates Nursing Strategic Roadmap development and maintenance in partnership with nursing leadership.
  • Facilitates Magnet readiness gap analysis at varied phases of Magnet process.
  • Submits timely application for Magnet Recognition (DDCT, Organizational Overview and Sources of Evidence, etc), verifying that all requirements are met prior to submission.
  • Designs and implements processes to maintain and sustain Magnet performance requirements on ongoing basis for re-application in partnership with nurse leaders and clinical nurses.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive data management systems that support information submission to the Magnet office and enables accurate tracking of key performance indicators.
  • Maintains and analyzes Magnet dashboards and shares with CNE, Director of Professional Practice and Nursing Leadership Team regularly.
  • Coordinates readiness activities for Magnet site visit including but not limited to leading the Magnet Champions/Crew.
  • Coordinates nursing collateral that supports Magnet infrastructure including Nightingale News and Nursing Annual Report.
  • Collaborates with other Northwestern Medicine hospitals on the journey to Magnet Designation.
  • Manage other improvement projects as directed by CNE or Director of Professional Practice
  • Serves as a consultant to teams submitting other nursing recognition documents i.e. Beacon and Lantern.
  • Provides oversight of PCS/Magnet team sites with appropriate clerical support as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree in nursing or relevant field
  • Current RN license
  • 5 years of nursing experience
  • Knowledge of performance improvement framework and nurse sensitive indicators.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, use databases and technology
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate projects and teams

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in Magnet program oversight
  • Familiarity with adult education
