First Merchants Bank is seeking a Loan Research and Balancing Specialist to join our team! This position will be responsible for performing research and clearing of the loan general ledger (GL) offages as well as processing transactions, notifying the appropriate departments/management of any out of balance conditions and taking the necessary action to ensure the outages are researched and corrected.

As part of this role you will:

• Serve as liaison with Operations Managers, Finance, Information Technology, and Loan Operations to research and resolve loan issues in a timely manner.
• Monitor loan GL exception reports and dashboards for items needing researched/cleared. Resolve identified items with the appropriate loan servicing team or line of business.
• Perform loan related reconcilements for mortgage loans on a daily and monthly basis.
• Provide input to help identify workflow/internal control inefficiencies, identify ways to make processes more efficient and cost effective, and assist with updating procedures.
• Assist with ad hoc requests from management or internal/external partners.
• Meet performance standards of established production and quality metrics.
• Adhere to SOX controls, and financial policies/procedures related to transaction processing and resolution of various account issues.

To be successful in this position, we require the following:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• A minimum of one (1) year of loan processing or servicing experience or two (2) years of accounting, finance, or related experience.

The following would be a plus:

• Experience within a financial services organization.
• Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
