Summary
The Supervisor, Operations position is a key role for the DSV Road branches. They are responsible for coordinating with DSV Road Management to ensure efficient and effective processes and productivity for the branch and its operations. They provide efficient workflow tools and guidance including pricing approvals, negotiations to obtain the best rates and services available and also troubleshoot any issues that may be escalated to them by the team. They are responsible for ensuring the branch's house accounts are maintained and operating successfully, while continuously seeking additional growth opportunities with clients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures the team's daily activities and responsibilities are completed successfully and timely.
  • Assists both internal and external operators with system issues and inquiries, and arranges training sessions as needed.
  • Provides volume spot quotes to customers, and books shipments as appropriate.
  • Runs monthly reports to catch all booked shipments.
  • Uses appropriate company tools to research LTL and Full truck load shipments.
  • Oversees new customer on-boarding and set-ups.
  • Creates and maintains documentation and processes for new and existing clients and their set-ups and/or changes.
  • Maintains in-depth working knowledge of client and branch freight needs.
  • Works closely with the DSV Road Management to establish KPI's measuring productivity and manages team daily reports.
  • Works closely with the DSV Sales team to work thru new and existing opportunities for growth, and client relationship enhancements.
  • Works with other department leads and/or mangers to achieve successful and positive partnerships and efficiencies.
  • Leads carrier development initiatives, and the solicitation of freight opportunities with internal customers and external customers
  • Assists operations staff in resolving settlement disputes with carriers.
  • Performs and completes other duties or projects as assigned.
  • Leads by example; motivates and supports co-workers, integrates, and promotes the DSV strategy into daily actions and interactions.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

  • Oversees the branch's Account Managers / Customer Service Specialist, Carrier Sales team members.
  • Reviews and approves time off requests for Account Managers / Customer Service Specialist, Carrier Sales.
  • Delegates and distributes workloads and/or duties as appropriate.
  • Assess performance, conducts performance reviews, and suggests disciplinary action as needed and in coordination with the DSV Road Management.
  • Assesses staffing needs, conducts interviews, and assists with hiring decisions in coordination with the DSV Road Management.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere and leads by example.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, rules, and regulations.


Minimum Required Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in supply chain management/logistics/business administration/similar field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 3 years' experience with transportation operations or related experience.
  • 2 years' freight brokerage experience.
  • 2 years' experience managing teams

Computer Skills

  • PC literacy is necessary
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft office proficient

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, verbal)
  • Spanish preferred (reading, writing, verbal)

Mathematical Skills

  • Advanced mathematical skills for project development.

Other Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to compose routine to moderately complex letters, and to edit and proof business correspondences and reports.
  • Able to present information to all levels of the organization, with the ability to function within a group dynamic.
  • Ability to balance multiple duties at once and possess a high attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years' of experience with an operations group or similar experience.
  • 5 years' freight brokerage experience.
  • 3 years' experience managing teams

For this position, the expected base pay is: $69,000 - $93,000 / Annual. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
