Job Description

General Summary of Position Responsibility:

  • Maintains all Revenue Cycle patient account records according to established systems that allow for efficient retrieval.
  • Establishes clear marking for contents of all filing cabinets.
  • Keeps current with all Laser document processing.
  • Ensures that all billing audits are completed in a timely manner, and posts additional charges as well as billing corrections in accordance with the findings of the audits.
  • Distributes daily bills, claims, and reports to various department teams and to management.
  • Actively supports all the Revenue Cycle Department goals individually and as an effective team member.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Files all documentation relating to patient demographic information, patient financial information, and cash processing information.
  • Maintains Laser processing of record storage.
  • Retrieves and distributes computer reports for the various Revenue Cycle teams and for management.
  • Makes copies and faxes necessary information for Revenue Cycle teams. Controls the requests for, pick up of, and return of medical records.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing office mail.
  • Scan to Revenue Cycle bank lockboxes for Hospital and Physician Billing.
  • Processes billing charges and credits as a result of the audits of patient bills.
  • Prepares cash batches for posting to patients' accounts.
  • Contact Insurance companies to setup ERA/EFTs Handles subpoenas and other court-ordered or attorney-initiated requests for billing information.
  • Completes requests for itemized bills.
  • Processes all requests for office supplies and maintains office supplies in a secure and orderly location.
  • Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or two or three years related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (examples: photocopy machine, facsimile machine, calculator, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while providing a high level of quality customer service to team members, employees, management staff, in addition to external customers.
  • THIS POSITION IS ONSITE AT OUR 680 N LAKESHORE DRIVE LOCATION
