Primary Responsibilities

As a Cloud Operations & Systems Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the observability and support of our mission-critical systems.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Identifying, developing, implementing, and improving infrastructure/operations activities for automation, particularly with AWS.
  • Monitoring and mitigating issues across a diverse production footprint.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues in all environments with detailed root cause analysis.
  • Contributing to team efforts in maintaining processes and tools for infrastructure, monitoring, and operations.
  • Creating and refining tools and scripts to monitor and measure application performance.
  • Implementing strategies for optimization, high availability, and recovery.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Architects, Developers, and Software Engineers.
  • Efficiently manage multiple work streams with clear and proactive communication of status, as both a self-starter and a team player.


Job Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • 2 years of experience with AWS services including EC2, Docker / ECS, CloudWatch, ALB/ELB, S3, VPC, CodeCommit/git, Route53 DNS, RDS.
  • 2 years of experience in SaaS monitoring tools (e.g., LogicMonitor, CloudWatch, New Relic, DataDog) and troubleshooting/debugging techniques.
  • 2 years of experience in Windows and Linux administration.
  • 2 years of experience with web servers such as IIS, Apache, Tomcat.
  • 2 years of experience in Docker / Container management (Amazon Elastic Container Service, Fargate).
  • Strong scripting abilities (Python, PowerShell, AWS CLI) and Infrastructure as Code knowledge. - Strong knowledge in Infrastructure as Code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform).
  • Understanding of infrastructure operations best practices and IT Operations leveraging high availability strategies.
  • Continuous learning mindset and adaptability to new technologies.
  • Availability to support systems on-call after hours on a rotation basis.
  • AWS Certification (SysOps or SA) - current or in progress


Additional Desired Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:
  • 2 years of experience with Lambda, CloudFront, RDS, ACM, AWS Workspaces.
  • 2 years of experience with Application Performance Management tools (AppDynamics, New Relic).
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools (Ansible, Chef, OpsWorks, Puppet).
  • Participation in backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery exercises.
  • Familiarity with caching technologies (Redis, ElastiCache).
  • Understanding of Continuous Delivery practices (CodePipeline).
  • Familiarity of Database Technologies (Aurora, DynamoDB, RDS, DMS, Redshift).
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
