Financial Analyst

The Financial Analyst position is a role in the Regional Controllership group representing a key resource for the team. The Financial Analyst will work very closely with the Regional Controllers (RCs) on a wide variety of responsibilities from general technical accounting support to full-range FP&A. While the role will have primary emphasis on EMEA, the scope will be wide ranging with exposure to firm-wide results. S/he will be an essential go-to person for the small RC team as well as the broader Finance group. S/he is a results oriented individual with a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast paced professional environment. S/he is intellectually curious with a desire to learn about Spencer Stuart, the firm's business model, and the CFOG. As a member of the finance team, the successful candidate will help the Regional Controllership Group be proactive in identifying issues and creating workable solutions. Position requires a tremendous attention to detail and a customer service orientation. Candidates must possess a strong sense of urgency and have the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. A team player with a good attitude is essential. The candidate must have strong communication skills and ability to work well with other departments, colleagues, and clients.

Our current work environment is hybrid with one day required in the office (currently Wednesday for Finance). Attendance at critical meetings could require in-person attendance as necessary.

Key responsibilities:
  • Provide front line accounting support to evaluate the accuracy and completeness of results submitted by our global finance colleagues.
  • Assist the Controllership and FP&A groups with reporting financial and operational KPIs on a recurring and ad hoc basis.
  • Provide operational support to the Firm's global forecasting and budgeting exercises with specific emphasis on EMEA, APAC and LATAM.
  • Become familiar with and become proficient with the Firm's Performance Warehouse database and financial reporting system to provide regular financial reporting support.
  • Serve as a critical thinker as we work to rebuild our reporting inventory, delivery mechanism and redefine our reporting strategy across several new reporting tools in Workday, Adaptive Planning and Tableau.
  • In working closely with the Controllership team, play an important role in financial quality control for the firm, being proactive in understanding what is behind the numbers.
  • Build strong relationships with the global finance team and partner closely with the team to answer questions, identify issues, problem solve and create solutions.
  • Serve as the go-to person or air traffic controller for incoming requests by working with teammates and ensuring that outgoing responses meet CFOG's high standards for accuracy and relationship management.
  • Collaborate closely with all colleagues in CFOG by demonstrating team spirit, an unwavering commitment to mutual success, and a strong work ethic.

  • Regional Controllership team with EMEA Regional Controller as direct line manager

  • Chief Financial Officer Group including FP&A, Treasury, Tax and Audit
  • Corporate Finance Leadership including Regional Controllers
  • Regional Finance Directors in EMEA, APAC and LATAM
  • Country Finance Managers and supporting staff


Ideal experience
  • Education: An undergraduate degree with a concentration in accounting or finance is required.
  • Proficient with Software and Databases:
  • Advanced Excel skills are a must.
  • Basic familiarity (or better) with PowerPoint.
  • Prior experience using accounting and planning systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday, etc).
  • Certifications: CPA, or working toward CPA, preferred.
  • Work Experience:
  • Three to five years of accounting or finance experience at a global, professional services or consulting firm preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (knowledge of intermediate functions such as VLOOKUP) applications.

Have the ability to step back from numbers to interpret what they mean, spot trends, and bring insight.
