Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE: The individual will be responsible with working with several internal and external departments, (Sales, Accounts Payable, Customer Service, Transportation Planners, Finance and Carrier Representatives) in order to determine freight bill accuracy, resolve any discrepancies and ensure that our carriers are paid in a timely basis. The individual will participate in the data collection to develop the departmental metrics and KPIs. The incumbent will interface with the Transportation Managers on action plan to reduce freight bill audits and discrepancies.


DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Audit freight bills
  • Resolve variances prior to carrier billing terms
  • Monitor and process freight payments through US bank/Power Track
  • Research reasons for cost variances on invoicing versus stated charges
  • Freight rate data entry
  • Manually input freight rating sales orders that don't automatically rate
  • Review carrier-aging reports
  • Update orders with carrier information
  • Freight Claims - filing, processing & follow-up
  • Arrange freight routing for RMAs (returns)
  • Develop freight rating purchase orders
  • Maintain invoicing integrity through audit and collaborate with contract carriers to improve and streamline all invoicing activities
  • Provide Excel report showing freight bill audit reductions
  • Provide load and LTL rate quotes
  • Resolve SAP case disputes
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable to ensure payment accuracy
  • Research and advise finance team on the GRIR finance report
  • Create spreadsheets for monthly rail demurrage invoices
  • Work closely with rail planner to obtain approvals for rail invoices
  • Collaborate with team members and transportation planners to resolve issues regarding orders in TM
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
  • High School education, GED or equivalent experience in transportation
  • 3+ years' experience classifying commodities and developing freight rate computations for LTL and truckload shipments
  • Good proactive interpersonal, written, verbal communication and team skills
  • Strong computer skills in Excel, AS/400, SAP and personal computer platform
  • Spreadsheet, math, and word-processing skills required
  • Must be detail orientated and exhibit proactive problem-solving skills
