Your Role At Baxter:

The America's Accounting Center of Expertise (CoE) supports Baxter's monthly, quarterly and annual accounting and financial close processes and has high visibility to senior leadership supporting Baxter's respective cluster and regional finance organizations.

This team focuses on ensuring accurate accounting treatment for complex areas of accounting, establishing efficient close processes, and providing business partner accounting/finance support.

This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration with various Local Country Finance contacts and local non-finance business team members across the America's region. This position will be responsible for leading the revenue and accounts receivable accounting team in Baxter's Corporate Headquarters, the Costa Rica shares services center (SSC) and the Care Communication's revenue recognition accounting team, and will also work in partnership with other members of the America's Accounting CoE and Corporate Technical Accounting Team.

What You'll Be Doing:

Manage and be held accountable for the execution and analysis of the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close processes for the UCAN and LATAM regions. General areas of responsibility include revenue recognition, gross-to-net sales reporting including chargebacks, rebates, sales incentives, etc, and aide in the completion of account reconciliations. The manager will also focus on process optimization and process efficiency efforts to drive standardization and efficiency in accounting processes across the America's region and will partner with Global Standardization leads as applicable and implement such standardization efforts locally.

  • Determine the appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions ensuring compliance with US GAAP and completion of documentation for audit purposes.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate/timely reporting of monthly financial data, including required US GAAP/management adjustments and accounting support
  • Lead and coordinate review of result (trend, variance, growth analyses) for areas of responsibility
  • Provide control and oversight for close processes including presenting results to key stakeholders such as Corporate, GBUs, Regional and Local Finance teams
  • Lead process improvement and process optimization initiatives, including the identification and implementation of such opportunities.
  • Drive standardization of revenue related processes across the region. Partner with finance and non-finance partners to challenge and change current accounting processes.
  • Manage, evaluate and develop 6 direct reports (overall team size of 9)

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • CPA required
  • Demonstration of key accounting/finance competencies and qualifications; typically 8+ years of relevant industry accounting experience
  • Previous management / supervisory experience is preferred
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and to apply professional judgement
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial analysis, including understanding of internal control requirements and relevant business environments
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and to effectively escalate or resolve issues to meet deadlines
  • Process improvement and process innovation experience desired
  • Strong working knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management and JDE systems preferred
  • Adaptable, self-starter with strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, often cross-functionally

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $136,000 to $187,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and long-term incentive.
