WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Global Practice Management Senior Director (GPMSD) develops and sets the strategic agenda for the practice and translates it into concrete activities and robust processes. Together with the Global Practice Area Leader (PAL) and the CFS Management Team, the GPMSD acts as the Practice's "COO" and oversees the practice's three regions, its businesses (Strategy, Corporate Finance, Growth, Innovation, Digital & AI Strategy and Transactions & Integrations) and its underlying topics which includes; go-to-market strategies, Knowledge/IP/Assets development, internal and external Marketing, People /Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Finance/Budgeting/Planning and key strategic HR processes.

The GPMSD is also in charge of the Practice's infrastructure, operating model and ensuring world class operations that deliver fast, reliable and high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders. You will be the disciplinary leader of the practices' staff, comprising over 130 FTE in total (divided into the Management and Operations team, PA Knowledge Team, ValueScience Center and other non-consulting staff under the PA roof). As the GPMSD for CFS you will be part of and represent the PA in various communities outside the practice and support the overarching practice agenda of the firm.

YOU'RE GOOD AT
People Leadership & Management
  • Teaming with PA Leaders (Regions, Sectors, Businesses/Topics, Functions) to develop and drive the overall plan for the PA with a clear business focus and being able to challenge the outcome in a meaningful way if needed
  • Working closely with Practice Area Leader (PAL), Regional PALs and Topic Business Owners to evolve the business and go-to-market approach
  • Evolving the L&D agenda and ensuring the best content is disseminated to the worldwide affiliates
  • Direct Management & leadership of PA M&O team members, supporting and acting as thought partner to assist in driving the overall business agenda
Business development, strategy & monitoring
  • Being a thought partner to the Leadership with a sharp point of view on the practice strategy and vision for the future while being able to drive the implementation and execution
  • Facilitating and impacting strategic discussions that set the direction or the PA
  • Designing and preparing business reviews and analyses to support business planning discussions incl. deriving business and competitive intelligence (in collaboration with the central Business Intelligence Team)
  • Identifying and assessing new business build opportunities (e.g. via central investment vehicles like Big Bets or Growth Bets)
  • Managing the day-to-day operations to run the business (e.g. managing the staff, budgets, processes)
  • Monitoring overall PA budgets and investments to accelerate the business growth
  • Ensuring that the reporting structure (e.g. business taxonomy, NCC reports) are accurate and reflecting the right level of detail and insights needed to grow the business
Thought leadership & asset/IP development
  • Managing the practice's R&D agenda incl. steering the development of new content, products, offers and other assets (e.g. tools, databases) and managing the overall investment and governance of it
  • Overseeing and monitoring the execution of investment plan and projects; effectively leveraging their outcomes (dissemination, commercial exploitation) to ensure consistency and ROI
  • Evaluating and identifying partnership opportunities (e.g. with corporations, organizations or academia)
  • Participating in key internal projects, where appropriate and feasible
  • Providing input and oversight as part of select Steering Committees (within and outside the practice)
  • Driving cutting-edge thinking in the practice by exploring collaboration opportunities with leading thinkers within the firm (e.g. BHI, BCG.X) or outside BCG (e.g. speakers for CFS conferences)
  • Ultimately responsible for the administration, tracking and use of the RTB and GTB budgets
Cross-PA role
  • Serving as a key interface for the PA with multiple other functions across BCG: Central PA leadership, Global Finance, Accounting, HR, Legal, Regions, Global Marketing or CEO Office
  • Participating in Global Practice Management Senior Director calls and meetings regarding PAL agenda initiatives and synthesizing key aspects for the PA staff
  • Contributes on sub-teams and committees formed to address identified opportunities
  • Provides data and analysis relating to cross-PA issues
  • Communicates policy outcomes from PAL group decisions to relevant practice constituents
Network scope
  • Organizes activities fostering greater connectivity of practice members and other stakeholders
  • Oversees the prep of global, topic and regional meetings, including agenda development and organization, in collaboration with PAL, RPALs and Sector Leaders
  • Oversees the coordination of our virtual training program, internal/external marketing and events, and product/tool development
  • Oversees development and coordination of client events
  • Proposes additional sharing/training activities
  • Organizes activities fostering connectivity of Practice members at all levels

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
  • People management and business leadership experience
  • Consulting skills preferred, 12+ years of relevant experience
  • MBA or other Masters degree preferred
  • Significant BCG experience preferred, ideally in the consulting staff (equivalent to a Principal or Partner)
  • Deep understanding of the core business of industry and functional practices at BCG required
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Word and Excel; familiar with collaboration tools (Slack, Trello, MS Teams etc)
  • Excellent English speaker
  • Experience working in global/virtual team settings

YOU'LL WORK WITH
CFS Management Team, Leadership Team, CFS Management and Operations team (reporting into you), Knowledge Team (reporting into you), ECTers and senior stakeholders in the BCG practices, regions and functions

Practice Area Management & Operations team members keep BCG's industry and functional practice areas operating responsively and efficiently. As a member of this team, you will contribute directly to the success of our business through a number of roles, including content development, process management, marketing, meeting and conference management, and internal/external communications.
