Scope of Leadership Role

The Aerospace & Defense division, $300m global business, with 1,000 associates within the $2B Automation & Motion Control (AMC) Segment of Regal Rexnord is seeking a Sr. Director of Operations. This is a critical role to both create and drive a growth-focused operations strategy.

Reporting to the VP/GM of the Aerospace & Defense Division, and based in Downers Grove, IL, this position will lead operations across six plants located across the United States, Mexico, and the UK with a strong execution mindset, as well as serve as a key member of the division leadership team.

Within each site, this leadership position will drive the discipline of SQDC (safety, quality, delivery, cost-competitiveness), to allow the division to grow top line revenue growth and bottom line profitability. The leader will develop and implement long and short-term strategic plans to meet Division Targets to Improve (TTIs), drive significant plant Key Performance Indicator (KPI) improvements, partnering closely with the site leadership teams whiledeploying the application of the Regal Rexnord Business System (RBS) which includes 80/20 methodologies and Lean Continuous Improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence & Effective Problem Solving

    • Lead the Division operations team to deliver on Annual Operating Plan (AOP), monthly, quarterly, and annually.
    • Set and achieve short and long-term SQDCG and financial objectives by implementing a strategic vision that is broken into actionable strategies and tactics. Direct activities across all plants, providing leadership to Production, Quality, Purchasing, Human Resources and Finance.
    • Knows what great looks like and has the ability to coach and develop a leadership team.
    • Ensures accountability and enables the predictability of the outcomes of each plant. Determine root cause of delivery, quality or other issues quickly and effectively put counter-measures in place to support.
    • Lead and drive the Regal Rexnord Business System which includes 80/20, Lean, and Continuous Improvement for the Division. Skilled and experienced in deploying strategic and/or key initiatives into actions that can be cascaded to every manufacturing facility. Drive solid day to day operational performance across all division sites with a CI mindset.
    • Set clear future factory visions to significantly improve productivity and efficiency across all plants and drive employee engagement. Setting the standard and expectation of 'customer ready' sites.
    • Establish and sustain strong plant floor visual and daily management, GEMBA culture, problem solving methodologies and lean flow.
    • Develops controls and critically reviews results of operation in reference to planned objectives.

P&L Leadership - Business Partner

    • Ability to work as a member of the leadership team to develop and communicate a future vision for the business.
    • Partners with VP/GM and leadership team on the overall delivery of the plan for the division and supports the cascading and execution of the segment strategy through the x-matrix. Owns and drives operational performance and related initiatives with urgency and a high say/do.
    • Responsible for synthesizing action plans, timelines and budgets for project and product goals and adjusting these plans accordingly to effectively respond to changing demands of the business.

Talent Management

    • Develop a high performance team by engaging, coaching and developing team members, and by driving accountability and ownership at all levels. Builds a team where all site leaders are top talent, with a strong say/do and continuous improvement mindset.
    • Serve as an advocate for our top talent, building strong succession plans to enable increased velocity, be a champion of promoting diversity and inclusion in and across the organization.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree from an Accredited University
    • 15+ years manufacturing and/or operations experience; including plant management with experience from a best-in-class manufacturer
    • 8+ years of leadership experience with Lean and Continuous Improvement
    • Proven successful applications of multiple CI tools: 80/20, KPI Leadership, Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Flow, Standard Work, Visual Management, & Problem Solving
    • Strong operational and financial acumen, executive presence, and the ability to lead multiple locations
    • Critical thinking skills to properly identify problem area & potential solutions

    • Must be able to travel at least 50% of the time domestically and internationally as required
