Primary Function

Plans, organizes and monitors the receiving, storage and distribution of all items received from suppliers ensuring a smooth and consistent operation so that supplies and equipment are delivered to the proper departments in an effective and efficient manner according to departmental procedures. The supervisor will also oversee all shipping activities in accordance with company and departmental priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Plans and coordinates work assignments. Trains, motivates and monitors the performance of Receiving/Shipping personnel. Maintains equipment used in the department to assure that employees move supplies and equipment is a safe manner.
  • Provide all necessary training to staff on proper FDA receiving procedures in accordance with regulations and company policies including appropriate labeling and storage of laboratory products.
  • Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storage, shipping and salvaging of equipment and supplies.
  • Provide and necessary training to staff on shipping procedures, use of FedEx shipping systems and international shipping regulations.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree
  • 3+ years of related experience or training, preferably shipping/receiving in an FDA certified company.
  • 2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Automated receiving experience, Oracle preferred.
  • B.S or B.A. degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of international shipping procedures is a plus.
  • Ability to set work assignments and schedules for staff.
  • Effective communications both written and verbal are required.
