Job Description
Steptoe LLP is seeking an Ebilling Analyst to join the Accounting & Finance Department. The Ebilling Analyst will have responsibility to successfully ebill and assist others with ebilling in a timely fashion. This role will have an in-depth understanding of the billing process and how ebilling is incorporated. Show ownership for irregular ebilling and recognize patterns so issues in the process can be corrected to ensure timely submission. Setup and submit monthly bills through Steptoe software solutions to link with client chosen vendors. Recognize timekeeping patterns and assist in education and correction for reduced reductions. Process appeals and follow ebill through payment. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Functions
  • Recognizes that service to clients (both internal and external) is the Firm's number one priority.
  • Work with billing leads, billing analysts, attorneys, LEAs, and clients to assist with ebilling setup.
  • Enforce client billing guidelines via proactively setting up rules and constraints.
  • Work with Steptoe software solutions to correct time entry before proforma.
  • Work with Steptoe software solutions to create and submit LEDES docs to clients in correct format.
  • Collaborate with Billing Analyst and Billing Analyst Leads to ensure data entry is complete, such as time and expense transfers, narrative edits, editing hours and dollars, splitting/adding time entries and writing off time and expenses, and the bill is ready to move into ebilling.
  • Edit bill and/or LEDES documents when necessary.
  • Ensure prompt follow-up regarding rejected or pending ebills.
  • Provide both clients and attorneys with information including, reasons for delay in billing, status of setup and submission, appeal requests.
  • Resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Create and revise basic spreadsheet reports.
  • Work with Pricing to help update rates for ebilled clients.
  • Assist with ebilling email group and profile emails in ebilling software as needed.
  • Assist with other special billing requests.
Non-Essential Functions
  • Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
  • College degree or commensurate experience with high school diploma.
  • Law firm or professional services background preferred.
  • Five or more years specializing in ebilling.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Individual should have previous knowledge of legal billing, electronic billing, finance and/or the revenue cycle.
  • Basic to intermediate skill level with Excel is required

  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to maintain effective relationships with attorneys and staff via telephone, email or in person to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Knowledge of Elite 3E is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook
