As a Construction Engineer at TYLin, you'll be at the forefront of overseeing the construction of cutting-edge roadways, transit systems, railroads, bridges, and transportation structures. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that projects adhere to design specifications and guidelines, guaranteeing the safety and efficiency of our transportation networks.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:

  • Proactive Oversight: You will determine the best procedures and meticulously inspect materials to maintain the highest quality standards.

  • Team Collaboration: Engage in agency coordination efforts, working seamlessly with our skilled team members to execute a sequence of related engineering tasks.

  • Quality Assurance: You'll review and provide recommendations to address nonconformance situations and change management events, contributing to the continuous improvement of our projects.

This role is dynamic and may require travel to job sites across Illinois, giving you the chance to explore the state while making a tangible difference. Some projects may also require weekend and night work, providing a unique opportunity for growth and a chance to showcase your dedication.

Sound interesting? Here's what you'll need:

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management with pathway to professional licensure/certification.

  • Five (5+) or more years of related experience, preferably on IDOT, ISTHA, CDOT, CTA or Class I Railroad projects of equivalent complexity.

  • Experience interfacing with contractors, in assisting in dispute resolution, and management oversight of TYLin and sub-consultant staff assigned to the various aspects of the projects.

  • Must have good communication skills and be able to maintain neat and accurate records.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safe work practices.

  • Must be able to receive verbal and or written instructions and perform tasks independently.

  • Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.

  • Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients' toughest challenges.

  • High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.

  • Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.
