Position: Parking Enforcement Supervisor

Location: Lively downtown Chicago, IL

Hourly Rate: $18.50; non-tipped

Full Vaccination Required

Schedule: We are offering full-time hours Monday - Sunday from 6p-2a or 3p-11p

The Spirit of the Position:

The Parking Enforcement Supervisor provides supervisory, operational, and administrative support through the dedicated planning and supervision of all parking regulation enforcement activities while ensuring that all personnel adhere to all policies and procedures.

Principal Job Duties:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of operational objectives, policies, and standard operating procedures
  • Transports staff to and from assigned patrol areas as required.
  • Conducts training in properly issuing City-approved parking tickets for new or existing staff.
  • Conducts safety and other training courses for the staff.
  • Prepares work schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Maintains staff oversight to ensure compliance with rules of conduct, policies, and procedures, including professionalism, uniforms, and grooming standards.
  • Provides direct staff supervision, including on-street site visits to review performance.
  • Ensures the proper use of all Handheld Ticket Issuance devices to issue approved parking tickets adequately.
  • Responds effectively and immediately to requests or questions regarding enforcement equipment or operational procedures.
  • Review daily field reports to monitor productivity and accuracy.
  • Makes recommendations to improve performance.
  • Prepares Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Annual reports as required.
  • Completes other projects, programs, and initiatives that may arise.
  • Monitors on-street parking areas for vehicles violating parking ordinances by following an assigned route.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience:

  • Supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
  • 1+ years in Parking Enforcement, Traffic or Transportation Management
  • Parking industry experience is required.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
  • Must possess excellent customer service and a high level of interpersonal skills to handle challenging and, at times, emotionally charged situations.
  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend the English language.
  • Must be open to feedback, differing opinions, and other points of view.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and timeliness.
  • Demonstrate the ability to seek improvement.
  • Excellent team building and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to produce and maintain an acceptable driving record and unrestricted driver's license.

Physical Demands:

  • Willingness to work in the elements - heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and run for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and lift frequently throughout a shift.
