Description

The Pharmacy Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides pharmacy services and assistance under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems.
  • Fills medication carts on a daily basis.
  • Prepares orders and maintains inventory for the pharmacy department.
  • Repackages bulk medications.
  • Provides pharmacy services and assistance under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • This role may support additional projects, perform administrative tasks, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • LIC PHARMT: Illinois licensure as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Pharmacy Technician License (IDFPR).
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through PTCB required for all those licensed after 2008. Newly licensed Technicians have 2 years from license effective date to obtain their CPhT.

Preferred:

  • 1 year experience in a hospital setting.
