Category Manager

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Category Manager
  • Location: Evanston, IL

What you will do:

  • Responsible for analyzing current practices (financial, contractual and operational data sources), standardizing, improving, documenting, and supporting assigned categories throughout the lifecycle of Supply Chain initiatives.
  • Supply Chain Procurement leader of product conversions, standardization, value analysis, and contract management.
  • Champions Supply Chain expense reduction initiatives throughout NorthShore.
  • Utilizes and effectively applies contract law and category knowledge.
  • Participates in the development of short-term tactics and long-range plans to secure business and legal interests resulting in optimal administration and category management solutions.
  • Participates in the processes concerning negotiation, consultation on supplies, distribution agreements, awarding of agreements and supplier performance.
  • Partners with key administrative, clinical, and physician leaders to develop, manage, analyze, and provide recommendations in regards to category specific RFPs, contracts, bids, trials, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborates with Supply Chain Analysts, clinical area analysts, and other areas to gather supporting data then summarize the results for Supply Chain initiatives.
  • Leads assigned Value Analysis Teams focuses on providing proactive cost savings, standardization, product conversions, and on boarding new supplies, implants, devices, equipment and services.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Certification: MBA, CMRP, CPSM preferred
  • Experience: 5+ years of Supply Chain experience
  • Unique or Preferred Skills:
    • Expertise in the following areas within Healthcare Supply Chain: Vendor negotiation, value analysis, contract management, managing product conversions, project management, and product standardization.
    • Must be a critical thinker, well organized, detail oriented, skilled at problem solving, and high level written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience collaborating with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO), analyzing, negotiating, summarizing, and presenting complex agreements.
    • Ability to build relationships with clinical, administrative, and physician leadership.
    • Intermediate level skills with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Adobe and PDF.
    • Experience with Lawson system highly desirable.
    • Knowledge of legal principles and routine business terms.
