Job Description & Responsibilities:
The VSE FTCE will support multiple automotive customer projects focusing on vehicle level features with responsibilities of:
Maintain a safety first mindset abiding by all regulations and laws while using new technology and vehicle systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and program teams to ensure vehicle ADAS feature calibrations and tuning parameter settings meet expectations on-time with a pleasing experience for end users.
Test functional safety calibration data (outcome from software models) in a diverse set of customer vehicles to perform initial and final assessment of calibration quality.
Communicate any software issues observed while performing core tuning/calibration activities.
Collect required in vehicle data to assist software debug / troubleshooting
Participate in customer development trips in order to fine tune safety calibration as needed to help ensure consistent performance across different conditions
Suggest software strategy updates as needed based on outcome from data collected during calibration development
Define and ensure calibrations/parameter settings are delivered in a consistent, efficient, and consistent manner for all pgms.
Document activities related to calibration & tuning tasks and enhance the current library of information to ensure growing the future team can be done effectively.
Design and develop safety calibration models using required tools and according to relevant functional safety standards during all project phases (concept, product development, production)
Plan, coordinate and track activities for ADAS tuning/calibration activities in all relevant phases of projects
Collect ADAS 'big data' for all vehicle tuning/calibration activities to aid triage and issue resolution
Debug, troubleshoot software and calibration issues utilizing a diverse toolset.
Supports technical discussions, timeline analysis and co-ordination, requirement clarification, and meetings needed with customers
Ensure calibration data maturity is updated at key project milestones and delivered to customer or internal project managers at defined project milestones
Spend significant time in-vehicles in SE Michigan and within USA on public and closed to public roads.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
A conceptual understanding of both linear and non-linear control theory
A conceptual understand of Vehicle Dynamics
Proficiency in using linux shell commands
A working knowledge of automotive serial data communication (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
Prior experience using vector data logging and trace tools (CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape)
Preferred Skills
A working knowledge of the XCP protocol
A working knowledge of the ASAM MCD-2 MC (ASAP2) calibration methodology and processes.
Prior experience using hardware interface calibration and measurement tools (e.g. ETAS xETK or Vector VX1000)
A conceptual understanding of the AUTOSAR Classic software architecture.
High proficiency in MATLAB m-script and numerical methods
