Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Landscape Designer to join our team. The position will work in a collaborative and integrated team of professionals that include landscape architects, civil engineers, planners, surveyors, environmental scientists, and transportation engineers. The primary responsibilities for the Project Landscape Designer include design/graphic leadership for specific landscape architectural scope of work on a multi-discipline project managed by another in-house professional, or landscape architectural scope of work managed by an outside firm, government, or developer. This person is the point of contact for the Client or in-house Project Manager, and responsible for all aspects of management and delivery of the applicable scope of work. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your Role with Us: This is a full-time, in-office position where your work will directly contribute to our team's success. You will be responsible for a range of tasks including but not limited to site analysis, design, and construction plans. While this role does not have supervisory responsibilities, it offers a pathway to significant professional development within a supportive and energetic team environment.

    Coordinates efforts of Graduate Landscape Designers (GLD) to assist in the production of work as needed.
  • Often self-produces graphics, plans, specifications for the scope of work.
  • Assists the Landscape Architectural Service Leader in training GLDs with standards.
  • Assures that assisting GLD's implement illustration, design and CAD standards established for the group.
  • Reviews planned submittals to Client or PM for completeness.
  • Coordinates with Senior Landscape Architect for interim reviews and ultimate signing and sealing of documents.
  • Builds increasing skills in Client management.
  • Prepares scopes and fees for projects requested by the Project Manager or Client for ultimate review by the Landscape Architectural Service Leader.
  • Shows a clear design methodology that results in creative, sound solutions to a given problem.
  • Shows clear mastery in preparing basic hardscape, grading, planting and irrigation graphics, plans and illustrations using both digital and hand drawn formats.
  • Leads project meetings with staff, clients, & regulatory agencies.
  • Leads construction administration scopes of services for the scope of services proposed.
Required Experience
  • A bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited university with a degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design or closely related field.
  • 2-5 years of professional experience.
  • This position is for a professional with experience, but without professional licensure.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of common software required to lead a small team of professional landscape designers.
  • Strong freehand illustration and computer rendering skills.
  • Track record of successful management of landscape architectural scopes of work within a larger project.
  • A positive leadership and mentor ethic.
  • Careful dedication and attention to organization and processes.
