SUMMARY
The Retail Buyer is responsible for interacting with peddlers to intake materials and sort scrap metal by loading, unloading, and transporting material.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ability to properly identify and grade customer material.
• Direct customers in person to appropriate area and assist them with unloading material in a professional manner.
• Use computer to accurately input customer data and weights to determine proper payment for customer.
• Perform daily equipment inspection and notify Supervisor/Maintenance of needed repairs.
• Operate warehouse equipment including but not limited to Forklift, skid steer, Alligator shear, band saw, and metal analyzer.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required equipment licenses.

• Ensure inbound material meets Schupan specifications.

• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs without assistance.
• Able to work extended work hours and weekends, as needed
• Maintain regular and timely attendance.
• Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to management.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized facility.
• Must follow all Schupan Safety procedures and regulations.
• Must be able to interact in person with peers and the public
• Must be able to handle high stress situations
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

• Previous experience working in a manufacturing and/or all-weather retail environment strongly preferred.

Skills & Abilities

• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work in varying temperatures

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Be able to walk up and down stairs and stand consistently throughout the entire shift.
• Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, type, and any means necessary to load/unload and move materials
