The sales development representative conducts outbound calls to generate opportunities for new logos in an assigned region, focused on employer group sales of 1,000+ employees.

The Sales Development Representative is responsible for a specific geographical area and within that territory is accountable for identifying business opportunities via direct group outreach. Once group outreach is made, the goal is to secure meetings, qualify sales leads, and hand-off leads process with the regional Enterprise Sales Executive to close the opportunity to exceed an annual sales goal. Generating the leads will come from this individual's direct discovery, utilizing multiple angles to reach out and identify new opportunities. Once meetings are secured, the regional Enterprise Sales Executive will drive account selling functions. The Sales Development Representative will need to partner closely with the Sales Executive and Sales Ops team throughout the sales process, along with the regional Sales Executives in order to achieve growth initiatives and exceed sales goals.

Responsibilities

Sales process

  • Generates leads by developing contacts in potentially new strategic accounts via referrals, daily calling, online resources, and other outreach activities to employers within region
  • Daily calls and other outreach to employers across the territory - which may be potentially numerous states (targeted goal of 100+ outreach calls and follow-ups a day)
  • Conducts initial qualification of opportunity to confirm viability and gather high-level understanding of customer needs
  • Accountable for identifying contacts at prospect accounts for Sales Executives to leverage for landing new accounts
  • Successfully transitions leads to the Sales teams
  • Facilitates appointment scheduling in prospect accounts
  • Assist Sales Executive in communication with generated opportunities to move deal through the sales process
  • Attains company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of qualified opportunities and pipeline generation

Other

  • Regularly engages with Marketing and the Alight Sales Executive to execute on strategy for region for net new lands
  • Effectively work with marketing to identify creative campaigns and ways to generate sales ready opportunities
  • Utilizes SalesForce.com and identify continuous improvement opportunities

Qualifications

Formal education and certification

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Knowledge and Experience

  • 2 - 5 years of inside sales or business development lead generation experience
  • Experience working in wealth and retirement business
  • Documented achievement of plan performance
  • Experience with both inbound and outbound lead generation, customer service, and/or phone based selling techniques
  • Experience of daily dials, appointment setting, and opportunity generation accountability
  • Experience running lead generation campaigns and multi-touch cadences
  • Experience using SF.com and front-end cadence tools (Salesloft, Xant, Outreach, etc.)
  • Have worked and collaborated with a field sales team with lead handoff
  • Strong knowledge of the benefits industry and ability to quickly learn and understand Alight products and services to accurately relate to targets
  • Ability to partner and collaborate with cross functional teams
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Salesforce, LinkedIn Navigator

Salary Pay Range

Minimum :

41,900 USD

Maximum :

66,600 USD
