Job Description

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Tax Accountant, Senior
  • Location:Arlington Heights, IL
  • Full Time
  • Hours: Mon-Fri, standard business hours

What you will do:

  • Prepare Federal tax returns for Endeavor Health tax-exempt entities including Form 990, Form 990-T, all accompanying schedules, and state returns including Illinois Form AG990-IL and Form IL-990-T.
  • Prepare Federal tax returns for Endeavor Health for-profit subsidiaries including Form 1120 and Form 1065.
  • Review Schedule K-1s from partnership alternative investments to calculate unrelated business income tax liabilities for both federal and state filings, and complete foreign investment filings including Forms 926, 8865, and 5471.
  • Assist with the completion of the annual Community Benefits Report to the Illinois Attorney General and Section 501(r) compliance requirements for tax-exempt hospitals
  • Prepare monthly sales tax reporting.
  • Prepare 1098-T filings for student tuition payments.
  • Respond to IRS and state tax notices and draft correspondence with tax agencies.
  • Review expenses and reimbursements for executives (taxable benefits, sporting event tickets, etc.) to ensure proper reporting of taxable income on W-2 forms.
  • Prepare the financial information required as part of Endeavor Health's real estate and sales tax exemption filings
  • Assist with providing auditors supporting documentation related to the annual financial statement audit tax review and related footnote disclosures.
  • Assists Endeavor Health departments with tax compliance and responds to questions and ad hoc requests from Finance management.
  • Assists with researching and implementing new tax pronouncements. Will also remain current on tax and regulatory issues affecting hospital systems through seminars, webinars, tax alerts, etc.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field required
  • Experience: 3 years Progressively responsible tax accountant experience, preferable in public accounting or in a healthcare organization
  • Certification: CPA designation preferred
  • Skills:
    • Nonprofit tax experience required
    • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) and other PC-based office automation
    • Workday or similar ERP system experience preferred
    • Tax preparation tools: C-TRAC and/or CCH Axcess Tax experience preferred
    • The ability to accommodate a flexible schedule when overtime is required
