Description

The Anesthesia Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Anesthesia Technician, under the guidance of the registered nurse, assists with stocking of supplies, cleaning, and performing other duties as requested. Included within this assignment is the responsibility for ensuring effective communication between him or herself, the charge nurse, the patient, other staff, physicians, and other hospital departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in inventory management, ordering and stocking of anesthesia supplies.
  • Order Anesthesia supplies from storeroom daily
  • Stock Anesthesia supplies in Operating Rooms daily
  • Stock medications in Pyxis machines for pharmacy as needed
  • Clean and stock in Operating Rooms between cases
  • Report equipment problems to Biomed and Anesthesia as needed. Assist in facilitating loaner equipment as necessary
  • Assist in evaluation of new equipment and supplies
  • Assist Anesthesia with anesthesia procedures as needed ex: difficult airway, arterial lines, nerve blocks
  • Orient new staff and students to anesthesia supplies and equipment
  • Communicate regularly with Anesthesia Charge provider about changes in supplies, medications, equipment, back orders, substitutions
  • Maintain established department, unit, and hospital policies, procedures, and objectives regarding performance improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control
  • Assists in housekeeping duties and cleanliness of department as directed to insure safe patient environment
  • Assists in transportation of patients when directed, maintaining age appropriate safety measures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Previous experience in hospital setting
  • Knowledge of growth and development as pertinent to job duties
  • BLS Certification within 30 days of hire
