As a Senior Buyer for Atlas Copco/ PC-Indiana you will be an integral part of the supply management team working closely with Site Leaders (engineering, planning, operations, customer service, sales, etc.) and Divisional Leaders to maximize the effectiveness, compliance, and management of the strategic and tactical sourcing function. This role will drive strategic direction, gaining alignment cross functionally within the Atlas Copco matrix structure. In addition, this role will support, where needed, on the execution of daily tactical/transactional ordering. Ensuring supply continuity for operations and minimizing production stoppages caused by material readiness. This includes direct communication with our suppliers for quotations, purchase order generation, confirmations, expedites, deferrals, etc. The ideal candidate will drive and implement process improvements (internal & external), system enhancements and continue to lead/improve productivity and efficiency within the supply chain team.

  • Propose and roll out of purchasing strategy for Atlas Copco - PC Indiana to achieve supply chain goals including total cost, payment terms, quality, and delivery. This includes identifying and executing supply chain optimization opportunities contributing to increased agility and shorter lead-times. (Supplier KPI / Scorecards)

  • Negotiate and agree contractually with the suppliers to achieve best possible commercial terms and most advantageous logistics conditions.

  • Own the consolidated spend and constantly look for cost saving opportunities. Spearhead projects to run these bottom-line initiatives from both regional and divisional perspectives. Interfacing with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

  • Be responsible for the vendors, maintain relationships and negotiate with suppliers.

  • Maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements.

  • Support inventory management team to ensure supplier adherence to packaging standards to optimize material flow through receiving, warehouse and production line replenishment.

  • Improve the purchasing processes and tools, reduce the non-added value tasks for the department and increase digitalization.

  • Enter and follow up on purchase orders, including expediting orders to prevent production line disruptions and reduce air transportation costs.

  • Have the department seamlessly work together with the Production Scheduler, Engineering, Production, and other relevant parties for a proper planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet committed shipment dates.

  • Purchase supplies and materials according to specifications. Manage the distribution of supplies and indirect spend in the organization.

  • Ensure that the company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all materials department functions.

  • Prepare and maintain detailed records on procurement activity. This includes structured vendor scorecard / KPI reviews, along with other business requirements where needed.

To Succeed You will need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or relevant field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to network and deal effectively and professionally with internal & external stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of purchasing/buying practices and warehouse operations.

  • Must be computer literate and be proficient with Microsoft operations.

  • Experienced with MRP systems. (Syteline is a plus)

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills to lead a team.

  • Analytical mind with excellent problem solving abilities and attention to detail.
