Job Description
Sentry is looking for an analytical and result driven individual to fulfill our Senior Actuary - L&A position within Sentry's Life and Annuities business area. In this role you will develop strategies for analysis of losses and liabilities to ensure adequate pricing, and overall financial strength of Sentry's Life and Annuities products.

This position will be located at our Home Office in Stevens Point, WI and is a hybrid work model opportunity with Mondays and Fridays work from home if you choose, Tuesday through Thursday required in office. For this position, Sentry does not offer employment to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 Visas.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Actuary - L&A you will provide counsel on the overall financial strength of Sentry's Life and Annuities products. You will also:

  • Develop projection models for premium, policy counts, expenses, losses, etc. to forecast financial results for our life and annuity product lines.

  • Analyze rate making assumptions to provide pricing rate levels that are necessary to produce profit.

  • Coordinate and communicate rate revisions and support documentation with executive management to facilitate an orderly transition in rate level changes.

  • Apply tactical, strategic, and innovative analysis to evaluate costs, benefits, and risks of various business options to achieve profitability and premium growth.

  • Analyze specific product line financials to ensure financial strength including actuarial aspects of product development and/or product maintenance for a product line, determination of pricing structure and premiums, filing and approvals, commission structure, systems specifications, and other actuarial supports for product management. Support administration and claims issues for life and annuity products.

  • Administer human resource-related activities. Select, develop, motivate, and recognize staff.

What it Takes

  • Bachelors Degree with an emphasis in mathematics, actuarial science, risk management, economics, computer science, or other quantitative field preferred or equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ years related work experience

  • Membership as a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. In lieu of Fellowship, will accept Associateship or equivalent professional designation with at least 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Strong financial and analytical skills

  • Advanced product knowledge in the assigned product line

  • Proficient skill level in actuarial statistics/assumptions used for rate making, loss reserving, and forecasting

  • Strong human relations and communication skills
