Job Description

Location: Fully remote, based on EST schedule which is Mon-Fri; 9am - 5pm.

This position will be part of the creative services in-house team supporting production and creative direction efforts ensuring content is correct and consistent. The creative team develops a variety of print and internal/external marketing collateral for the retail industry. This position will work with the proofreading and copy teams to provide original as well as edited copy. All creative efforts are coordinated with the client to maintain the integrity of approved designs and themes. The Copy Editor must thrive in a professional, fast-paced environment, juggling multiple projects within a corporate setting.

Work is typically performed under minimal daily supervision, receiving guidance from manager/supervisor about the work that needs to be completed. Able to exercise high level of discretion and latitude in completing tasks.

  • Review graphic communications pieces and marketing materials to ensure finished products are in line with company Brand and desired look and feel.
  • Review original copy and proof projects to detect and mark any grammatical, typographical and compositional errors.
  • Check project file dimensions, spacing, color separations, composition layout and brand standards accuracy.
  • Validate word usage, grammar, style and punctuation.
  • Ensure accuracy in multi-version publications.
  • Conduct proofreading, fact-checking and assist with research and style guide maintenance.
  • Assists Copywriters with creating original and editing existing content.
  • Attend client project meetings providing assistance with brand messaging delivery.
  • Interacts regularly with designers, production artists, traffic and other team members participating in execution of assigned projects.
  • Uses soft proofing process for reviewing materials.
  • Perform detailed work while balancing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in English, journalism, communications or a related field with 4+ years of relevant work experience preferably with an advertising agency.

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, web browsers, and the ability to be agile as priorities change.

  • Understanding of color management, prepress and printing is desired.

  • Expert experience with AP style, knowledge of proofreading symbols and strong attention to detail with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrates ability to solve complex problems by analyzing variables and applying appropriate solutions through experience and proficiency in understanding the job.

  • Ability to recognize anomalies and critical situations while respond appropriately.

  • Communicate and interact effectively with a variety of internal/external partners and peers to resolve conflict and project challenges.

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat and familiarity with the MAC platform.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to listen for understanding to execute the work according to the customer's needs

  • Ability to clearly understand and communicate client business needs to both internal and external partners.


Additional Information

The rate of pay for this role at the noted location is $53, 862 - $63,000 per year. In addition to base pay, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include [a sign-on bonus of $2,000], overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay.
