The Maintenance Inventory Clerk is responsible for the operation of the computerized maintenance management system and keeps track of the parts movement in the parts room. This role works very closely with the maintenance and procurement team including finance to ensure that accurate and up-to-date records are maintained, retrievable and auditable at any time for reporting processes. The Maintenance Inventory Clerk must work closely with the maintenance team to develop and maintain equipment logs, preventive maintenance schedules, job plans, spare parts listings, and vendor lists. This role is critical in ensuring that accurate inventory is maintained to avoid stock variances and equipment failure occasioned by spare parts unavailability or wrong specs.

Principal Job Duties:

  • Monitors and maintains maintenance parts inventory at appropriate levels
  • Orders, receives, unpacks, checks, stores, and tracks merchandise specifically related to equipment/facility maintenance spare parts and supplies.
  • Sorts, organizes, and marks items with identifying codes
  • Performs routine analysis of inventories, cycle counts, and makes adjustments as needed
  • Stores materials in bins, on the floor, on shelves, or in racks and may be required to lift heavy cartons of various sizes.
  • Communicates closely with maintenance team and MRO buyer as it relates to KPIs and financial targets
  • Communicates with vendors and manufacturers on a regular basis for the procurement of goods, warranty returns, and other equipment control processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Assists with placing orders and handling outgoing shipments, answers questions and solves related problems.
  • Maintains accurate and up to date records of spare parts inventory including department reports.
  • Utilizes installed computer and Maintenance Connection systems to input data regarding inventory, equipment, job plans, maintenance schedules, work orders, and other items.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned including supporting maintenance teams in PM work e.g. equipment inspections, tooling and repairs, rebuilds and any other operations as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as maintenance inventory clerk for not less than 5yrs
  • Experience in using CCMS systems to manage inventory.
  • Eye for details and a strong sense of accuracy
  • Understand both metric and imperial standards of measurement.
  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers. Gauges) to take accurate measurements.
  • Ability to root cause problems together with maintenance crew.
  • Good communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders including equipment parts suppliers
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
  • Good at math with analytical abilities
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship in electrical, mechanical or automation
  • Organized and well versed with 5S and other workplace organization skills.
  • Well-versed in technical/engineering drawings /solid works and AutoCAD
  • Versed with high-speed packaging filling equipment eg fillers, palletizers, labelers, steam systems, HVAC systems, valves and mechanics of machines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with good ability to interact with technical staff.
  • Good analytical/innovative and critical thinking
  • Flexibility to respond to off-hour emergency situations related to factory operations.
