Experienced Certified Sterile Processing Technician who is able to fulfill a 24/hour per month PRN requirement.

Monday-Friday Shifts!

JOB TITLE: Sterile Processing Technician - Certified

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the care and preparation of surgical instruments and supplies. The technician maintains established inventory levels by checking supplies and equipment. Orders supplies for the area. The technician performs the appropriate testing of all sterilizers and keeps accurate records.

Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Instrument technician experience, 2 years or equivalent experience in hospital materials management department
  • Certified Sterile Processing Certificate required
  • CRCST-Certified Registered Central Service Technician (IAHCSM) or CSPDT-Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CBSPD)
  • Graduate of an accredited sterile processing/central service curriculum inclusive of a clinical rotation or 400 hours of previous sterile processing experience

  • Must be able to retain knowledge of identification and necessary handling requirements of surgical instruments, medical supplies, and equipment.

  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge regarding processes used in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging of medical/surgical material to include, but not limited to, linen, instruments and equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterile and functioning supply of materials.
    * Prepare trays for designated areas according to prescribed procedures. Wrap and/or package items for specified areas according to procedures prescribed for designated areas
    * Must be able to operate bar code instrument tracking system
    * Dissemble, clean, assemble and test specialty instrumentation and equipment for proper functioning
    * Must be able to differentiate between single-use and reusable items
  • Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments. Follows proper Universal Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
  • Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
  • Sorts mismatched sets of instruments, trays, and medical equipment and makes them available to sterile processing customers in a timely manner.
