Job Summary

Plans, organizes, and develops training curricula, materials, and programs to meet specific training needs. Conducts /facilitates training programs. Works with management and SME to ensure course materials are current and relevant to training needs. Analyzes learning needs, plans and coordinates skill assessments and training. Tracks and analyzes training programs using satisfaction levels, proficiency testing, and job performance. Provides instruction and guidance to trainers. May include the design of computer-based training programs. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with client to conduct needs analysis and design learning objectives, content outline, presentation and training method, appropriate job aides and technology integration.
  • Consult with subject matter experts to ensure relevancy of learning objectives, delivery methodology and ongoing resource access.
  • Designs and develops training programs, materials and curriculum using appropriate instructional design methodologies. Includes eLearning design and development through various course authoring technologies, such as Lectora, Captivate, Presenter. Creates leader guides, performance support tools, etc.
  • Delivers training programs when qualified using appropriate instructor led techniques to manage classroom and deliver clear communications.
  • May assist with program facilitation.
  • Work with client to establish meaningful measurement criteria. Monitor progress toward goals, communicate outcomes and recommend incremental enhancements as needed. Understand measurement criteria and assessment of survey results.
  • Works with stakeholders to identify project team, along with roles & responsibilities. Manage project time, cost, scope and quality.
  • Build collaborative relationships and facilitate and document development by project team. Develop and implement effective internal marketing and communication plans.
  • Provide input to managers regarding performance of project team members or presenters. Manages execution to ensure efficient achievement of business goals.
  • Support process improvement initiatives primarily through the analysis of existing operational objectives and develop plans to identify skill gaps and meet those needs through training.
  • Identify issues or concerns within learning objectives or in ongoing training, and take appropriate actions to reduce learning constraints and improve desired behaviors, outcomes and training results.
  • Attends seminars, conferences, and participates in educational organizations to develop best in class educational processes. Keeps abreast of latest instructional design techniques. Learns new technologies as needed.
  • Responsible for automobile travel for training purposes. Car travel represents approximately 20% of employee's time.
  • Act as a project member on team projects.

Job Qualifications

  • College degree preferred
  • 2+ years Automation and
  • 3+ years insurance or financial services industry (underwriting or claims) or
  • 2+ years teaching or training
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Sharepoint).
  • Must be able to communicate complex subject matter in clear and simple terms including: products & services, policy language by LOB, processes and procedures, technical skills, company position and industry trends, endorsements/exclusions, and state and/or regional differences.
  • Must have valid state-issued driver's license in good standing. Must have the ability to travel.
  • Must have either: Functional knowledge of authoring tools (Captivate, Lectora, Presenter) and LMS Applications (Coursemill preferred) or Functional knowledge of instructional design fundamentals or Functional knowledge of P/C underwriting or claims.

The expected starting salary range for this role is$71,000-$102,000/$82,000-$118,000. The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
