Job Description

General Information:

Hitachi Energy in Alamo, TN is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to join its team. In this role, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating activities of personnel engaged in the buying, selling and distribution of materials, equipment, machinery and supplies. You will provide day-to-day support for purchasing throughout factory.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of buyers to provide purchasing support for the plant
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to Hitachi Energy policy
  • Prepare and process purchase orders for supplies and equipment
  • Collaborate with the Planning and Inventory teams to develop cost reduction strategies and savings plans
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers
  • Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids
  • Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs
  • Maintains records of supplies ordered and received
  • Work with the Planning & Fulfillment Manager to control the purchasing department's budget.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Minimum 5 years in manufacturing setting
  • Experience using SAP strongly preferred
