The Form Tooling Shop Supervisor is responsible for manufacturing, maintenance, and rework of thermoform tooling for the division while leading and developing employees through education, training, and teamwork. Utilize Lean tools to such as 5S, 5Y, Smed, pull systems and more to maintain and improve shop floor efficiencies and minimize rework. The outcome of which should provide an increase in speed to market and flawless execution of the new project and product introduction.

What you'll be doing:

  • Ensure the safety of all employees; participate in a comprehensive safety program to prevent injuries. Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations. (EPA, OSHA, etc)
  • Serve as the direct report for Form Tooling employees, conducting reviews (with or without) the Tooling manager as necessary.
  • Coordinate scheduling, quality inspections, testing, shipment, and rework of all blister form tooling.
  • Ensure on-time shipment of orders, drive continuous improvement, and delegate tasks/instruction to meet these requirements.
  • Own the quality and assist in testing process of all fabricated tools - this includes material organization; postmortem analysis for continuous improvement; customer demonstrations, support, training, and service calls as necessary (Spanish-speaking helpful).
  • Ability to report out in-process work with estimated completion times.
  • Evaluates tooling schedules based on opportunity grading and customer request dates.
  • Coordinate department schedule to meet demands, to manage overtime, and to reduce costs.
  • Improve and Maintain OTIF - 93%.
  • Assist with raw material and supply ordering, inventory, and organization.
  • Interact and utilize vendors as necessary to complete job duties.
  • Execute cross-training to build capacity and capability within the department.
  • General knowledge to operate and train others on CNC milling machines, manual milling machines, lathes, drills, and any other shop equipment in a safety-conscious manner.
  • Enforce general housekeeping standards, 5S implementation, and audits.
  • Help develop and maintain department metrics to promote on-time delivery, quality of finished tooling, and cost efficiency.
  • Identify, propose, and implement capital projects to improve operational performance.
  • Ensure proper calibration and asset reliability of blister form machines. This includes but is not limited to daily team maintenance; ensuring and scheduling routine repairs, upkeep, and preventative maintenance; maintaining and stocking critical spares.
  • Drive productivity improvements around output and scrap while reducing recurring defects.
  • Engage with Engineering to reduce design errors.
  • Work with cross functional teams including individuals from pricing, customer service, sales, engineering, manufacturing, marketing, procurement, and quality to ensure flawless execution.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Extensive CNC knowledge (Primarily 3-axis milling).
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to read/write and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read, understand and work from blueprints, sketches, and work orders.
  • Experience with lathes, milling machines, drills, band saws, and other shop equipment.
  • Fundamental knowledge as machinist in metal fabrication, tool making, and mold construction.
  • Understanding of tolerances and precision measuring.
  • Computer experiences with CAD & CAM file processing, email, Web scheduling, and MS office.
  • Must have a working knowledge of shop math.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Able to grow and support employees with cross-training opportunities.
  • Ability to drive meaningful department metrics.
  • Ability to coach continuous improvement programs.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Capacity for leading change, dealing with ambiguity, and providing creative solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
  • Strong knowledge of product and tool development.
  • General knowledge of thermoform tooling is a plus
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize and manage multiple projects with minimal direction.

This position is located at our DeKalb, IL Facility supporting our Alloyd Division

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this role is from $70,350 to $84,420
