Job Description

Creditor's Rights law firm seeking an individual to fill the Associate Attorney position for our Michigan practice. Licensure is required with admission to the Michigan Bar. Reporting to the Regional Managing Attorney, this position is responsible for litigating debt collection matters, signing pleadings, settling cases, and various other attorney tasks as assigned. The ideal candidate will handle all aspects of litigation and should welcome the challenges of a dynamic legal environment.

Must be energetic, self-directed, and capable of managing his or her own caseload. Responsibilities will include a wide variety of tasks associated with litigating debt collection matters. While litigation is the key role, we seek attorneys who can independently engage in risk analysis and develop strategies that adhere to state and federal rules and regulations, and compliance standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Reviews correspondence and files to determine if suit appropriate.

· Reviews answers and prepares discovery and dispositive motions.

· Manages all aspects of preparing for and conducting trials.

· Attends court hearings throughout the state of Michigan.

· Provide analysis and advises on legal and regulatory risks.

· Represents clients in pre-suit and post-judgement matters.

· Writes, reviews and edits reports, opinions, correspondence, articles and other documents.

· Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.

· Represent clients in pre-suit and post-judgment matters and attend court hearings when required.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.

· Ability to prioritize and organize high volumes of information.

· Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.

· Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm.

Education and Experience:

· Requires a JD in law.

· Background in civil litigation and experience attending court proceedings.

· Requires active bar admission in Michigan.

· Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws with experience in collection law and/or significant courtroom experience.

· Ability to analyze case law and provide recommendations.

· Ability to draft legal pleadings, motions, discovery, stipulations, etc. Also, to write, review, and edit reports, opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents.

· Knowledge in Bankruptcy Law, Foreclosure Law or the FDCPA/FCRA/TCPA is a plus.

· Experience in collection law and/or significant courtroom experience is a plus.

· Must have the ability to work independently, shifting priorities in a fast paced, results driven environment is required.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Frequently required to talk or hear, and use hand to type, handle, or touch objects.

· Regularly required to stand and walk, and may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.

· Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at times.

· Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

· Work Environment:

· The position is a hybrid role.

Schedule: Monday through Friday

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
