Job Description Summary

The Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MSSLP) program in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences invites applications for adjunct instructors. These are part-time, as needed appointments. Instructors with the following areas of expertise are encouraged to apply: anatomy and physiology of speech, language and swallowing; augmentative and alternative communication; speech and hearing science; aural rehabilitation; voice disorders; fluency disorders; motor speech disorders; pediatric dysphagia and feeding disorders. Other areas of expertise within the discipline may be considered. Some courses will be offered via distance learning, while others will be offered face-to-face. Instructors of online courses are required to complete training in online course delivery provided through the University.

Responsibilities

Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.

-Developing and teaching didactic academic courses in the SLP curriculum, including undergraduate prerequisite and graduate courses
-Recording assessment data regarding student achievement at midterm and end of each semester
-Participation in faculty meetings upon request of the SLP Department Chair

Minimum Qualifications

Earned masters or doctoral degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology. Evidence of at least 5 years of clinical experience, including expertise in area to be instructed. Must hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and must hold the Illinois state speech-language pathology license.

Preferred Qualifications

History of university teaching experience preferred.

Part-time; as needed basis. Will be hired for Summer 2020, Fall 2020, and Spring 2021.
